In line with the Access to Success campaign, the UWC Alumni Relations Office engages UWC staff members from both academic and non-academic spheres with the view of lobbying financial support to uplift academically deserving UWC students in [financial] need, with bursary support.
In order to facilitate this process staff can contribute via a Payroll Giving programme instituted through the university’s HR and payroll system. All contributions by UWC Staff are tax deductible. By participating in the campaign, staff continue to contribute to a UWC culture steeped in [social] activism to effect change [for needy students].
The annual staff campaign happens during September encourages teamwork, ownership, while demonstrating the inherent willingness of UWC staff to support thereby enabling the realisation of the dreams and aspirations of our students.
All donations accrued through the Annual Alumni Phonathon are tax deductible. In 2018, with the contributions of the Access to Success campaign more than R400 000 was dispersed to support 52 academically deserving financially needy students.
